Electrical & Instrumentation Technician – Heavy Industrial

About the role
As an E&I Technician, you'll play a crucial role in our mission to help the world grow the food it needs and keep our plants running smoothly. Your expertise in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and automation equipment will be vital to our operations. You'll ensure everything from lighting to motors functions efficiently while adhering to safety standards and collaborating with your team. You'll also manage work requests through our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This role is ideal if you're detail-oriented and can thrive in an outdoor industrial environment with varying temperatures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair motors, drives, starters, and electrical systems (480V – 4,160V)
- Troubleshoot industrial electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems
- Perform maintenance on equipment measuring flow, pressure, temperature, and density
- Support and adjust PLC and automated control systems
- Respond to plant breakdowns and emergency repairs
- Execute work orders using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Communicate daily with supervisors to prioritize tasks
Safety & Compliance
- Perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, and hazard assessments
- Follow all safety policies and environmental standards
- Complete inspections, permits, and documentation
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 4+ years of industrial electrical experience OR completion of an accredited electrical program
- Experience with motor controls, wiring, and troubleshooting industrial systems
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Strong commitment to safety in a heavy industrial environment
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in vocational, electrical, instrumentation, or automation
- IBEW apprenticeship or phosphate industry experience
- Experience with PLC programming and automation systems

Schedule
- Rotating 12-hour shifts with 7 consecutive days off in a 28-day cycle
- Consistent day shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Note: This is a union facility, and shifts are assigned based on availability and seniority.
