About the role

The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the electrical and instrumentation function across the facility. This role ensures reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all electrical, automation, and control systems supporting production.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians; provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Oversee daily electrical and automation activities for all production systems, including blending, processing, packaging, and refrigeration systems.
  • Plan, assign, and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion and minimal production downtime.
  • Ensure execution of preventive maintenance programs aligned with SOPs, SSOPs, and reliability goals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and instrumentation issues; provide advanced technical support.
  • Oversee installation, testing, calibration, and modification of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Review and approve program changes to PLCs, HMIs, and automation systems to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure proper operation and calibration of instruments including flow meters, temperature sensors, and pressure devices.
  • Maintain documentation for electrical systems, PMs, troubleshooting activities, and compliance.
  • Promote and enforce safety culture, including LOTO and arc flash procedures.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Production teams to optimize equipment performance.
  • Manage scheduling, on-call rotation, and staffing coverage.
  • Support audit readiness and ensure compliance with quality and food safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Required: Idaho State Electrical Journeyman’s License.
  • Preferred: Associate of Applied Science in Instrumentation and Controls or related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of electrical and instrumentation experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Dairy or food processing experience preferred.
  • Experience with PLC programming, automation systems, and HMI development.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial 480V systems, MCCs, VFDs, and distribution systems.
  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs, RSLogix 500/5000, Wonderware, and automation platforms.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics and process diagrams.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Effective problem-solving, decision-making, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform physical work outdoors in various conditions.
  • Frequent climbing of ladders and stairs requiring agility.
  • Walking long distances on a continuous basis.
  • Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Regular stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Clear verbal communication of detailed instructions.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Exposure to extreme heat (above 100°F) for extended periods occasionally.
  • High noise levels requiring raised voices.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and move throughout the plant.
