Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician
Our Alabama River Cellulose (ARC) mill in Perdue Hill, AL is a major economic driver in the region, recognized as one of the largest pulp operations in North America and the largest manufacturer in Monroe County.
About the role
The E&I Technician will provide planning, procurement, and documentation activities to enhance electrical and instrumentation maintenance within the facility. This role works closely with Supervisors, Maintenance Planners, and Operations, serving as a vital resource for the manufacturing machinery preventative maintenance program. On-call rotation for facility emergencies and off-shift requirements is required. Adherence to all company safety and compliance guidelines is mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical maintenance tasks relative to the maintenance department’s workload
- Perform preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance work orders
- Monitor equipment and machinery for electrical maintenance deficiencies
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work environment
- Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, instrumentation, and controls
- Perform work in high and/or confined spaces
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three (3) years or more of electrical experience in industrial manufacturing or the military OR a two (2) year technical degree with one (1) year or more of electrical experience in industrial manufacturing or the military
- Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, PLCs, A/C and D/C motors, motor controllers, and drives
- Experience reading technical drawings and schematics
Skills
- Understanding of P&IDs, installing process control equipment, performing instrument calibrations, and repairing control valves
- Experience with low voltage D/C systems, 480V Motor Control Centers (MCCs), 15kV Switchgear, and other electrical-related equipment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel for data entry and document creation
Pay
This position starts at $26.80 hourly or more based on experience and ability.
Schedule
Regular schedule: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday–Friday. Overtime, holidays, weekends, and shift work (including on-call rotation) may be required.
