Electrical / Instrument Mechanic

About the role

We are looking for an Electrical and Instrumentation Mechanic to support our Advanced Material & Chemicals division in Rochester, NY.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrician and instrumentation skilled trade service to repair, maintain, install, and improve film manufacturing equipment, complex processing equipment, chemical processing equipment, and building general systems (includes instrumentation, pneumatics, hydraulics, controls such as PLCs and distributed control systems (DCS), and a wide range of electrical components).
• Calibrate process control instruments to tight tolerances using sophisticated calibration equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment with a high level of expertise, including root cause analysis.
• Perform maintenance on mechanical, piping, and HVAC equipment and controls, including motors, breakers, starters, variable speed drives, process control devices, heat tracing, and lighting.
• Calibrate, align, and adjust equipment using test and measurement tools.
• Install conduit, wiring, switches, relays, lighting, and circuit breakers using power and hand tools.
• Install upgrades to enhance or replace outdated control systems.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Perform data entry and report writing, including ISO documentation.

Requirements

• Dependable with good attendance.

• Detail-oriented team player with strong electrical and/or instrumentation training and demonstrated skills/experience.
• Proficient in math functions and effective analytical troubleshooting.
• Able to read electrical, instrument, and machine drawings.
• Able to read and modify PLC programs to troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Understanding of electrical codes for hazardous environments (flammable liquids).
• Excellent safety record, prioritizing safety and environment in all work.
• Knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out procedures.
• Effective communication skills for daily interactions with leaders, maintenance planners, technical staff, engineering, and operations.
• Flexible team player willing to work in other areas and with other trades as needed.
• Ability to walk or move frequently and work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work off ladders or scaffolding and in awkward positions.
• Experience with indoor and outdoor work assignments.
• Ability to work in moderate to loud noise environments.
• Willingness to wear protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and a 2-year degree or demonstrated trade experience in instrumentation or electrical fields.

Schedule

Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as business needs dictate.

Pay

Estimated salary: $32.00 - $45.00 per hour.
