About the Role

Instructors are responsible for delivering educational materials using sound educational practices focused on the successful academic development of each student. They utilize the educational experience to develop students' knowledge and skills in their chosen field, helping them achieve their educational and career goals. Instructors foster an engaging, dynamic, and student-centered environment while providing support, tutoring, and other assistance as needed. They lead by example, modeling professional behavior centered on ethical conduct aligned with Ancora Education’s Mission and Core Values.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize classroom and lab instruction, student assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide an engaged educational experience.
  • Ensure students are presented with the material required to successfully meet the learning objectives of each course in their program of study.
  • Maintain instructional materials and equipment, ensuring they are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, properly maintained, and in working order.
  • Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to maintain an active, engaged, and up-to-date classroom experience; maintain required certification and licensure.
  • Actively participate in meetings, review and analyze assessment data, compile reports, and meet academic and administrative deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory guidelines, as well as internal company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Where required, must have active certification or licensure.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience within the last 10 years.
  • For non-degree and occupational associate degrees (technical/occupational courses): a minimum of three (3) years’ practical work experience in the field of instruction.
  • For academic associate or bachelor’s degrees (technical/occupational courses): minimum four (4) years’ practical work experience in the field of instruction and a related degree at least at the same level as the course being taught.
  • All online faculty must have a master’s degree in the content area or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 semester/24 quarter graduate credit hours in the content area.
  • Exceptional cases: eight (8) years’ practical work experience may substitute for practical work experience and must be justified by the campus.
  • For general education courses: master’s degree with appropriate academic coursework and preparation in the subject area(s) taught—18 semester hours of coursework at any credential level in the subject. Some states require 18 semester hours at the master’s level.
  • Documented prior teaching experience or completion of new instructor training before beginning to teach.
  • Ability to qualify as an instructor per institutional and accreditation standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching in a proprietary education setting.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation regulations applicable to the proprietary education industry.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
