About the Role

This 12-month position based in Viking, MN involves working under the direction of the Chief Inspector or Resident Engineer, depending on the project. The Sr. Electrical Inspector ensures that electrical, communication, and instrumentation installations comply with drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents on construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assure correct installation of electrical, communication, and instrumentation systems following project drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Maintain working knowledge of electrical, communication, and instrumentation systems for natural gas pipeline or industrial facilities, including data acquisition systems and pneumatic/electrical control systems.
  • Apply knowledge of the current National Electric Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) under Code of Regulations Title 49 Part 192.
  • Familiarize yourself with approved-for-construction drawings and specifications.
  • Understand contract documents as they relate to your responsibilities.
  • Maintain a detailed inspector’s log book and submit applicable inspection reports.
  • Take a proactive approach to job site safety and report safety issues to the Chief Inspector and Safety Inspector.
  • Verify compliance of all materials with company requirements.
  • Discuss design changes or material substitutions with the Chief Inspector/Resident Engineer and obtain proper approval before proceeding.
  • Keep the Chief Inspector/Resident Engineer informed of daily or anticipated project problems.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience as an Electrical Inspector/Technician or journeyman, with at least two years in general pipeline or plant experience, emphasizing electrical power and control system construction methods.
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code (N.E.C.) guidelines.
  • Must meet the basic qualifications of a Utility Inspector (basic inspector).

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00 per hour, dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills.
