Electrical Inspection Specialist
About the role
The City of Fort Worth Development Services Inspections Division seeks an Electrical Inspection Specialist to join their team. This position performs a variety of construction inspection duties including building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, sign, and parkway inspections and verifies zoning compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical inspections to verify compliance with the adopted codes on the more complex projects within the City of Fort Worth
- Attend construction and pre-construction meetings with developers and permit holders
- Hands-on inspection training in the field with inspectors covering aspects of electrical installations and energy compliance
- Assist with less complicated inspections when assistance is needed by other inspectors
Requirements
- HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in building construction or a related field
- Four (4) years of experience in building inspection and/or construction related field
- State of Texas Master Electricians License
- ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector certification (preferred)
- ICC Commercial Energy Inspector certification (preferred)
- Extensive inspection experience (preferred)
- Two (2) years increasingly responsible experience in conducting electrical inspections (preferred)
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: HS Diploma/GED, 4 years of experience in building inspection and/or construction related field, State of Texas Master Electricians License
Skills
- Specialized training in building construction or a related field
- Experience in building inspection and/or construction related field
- ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector certification
- ICC Commercial Energy Inspector certification
- Extensive inspection experience
- Increasingly responsible experience in conducting electrical inspections

Pay
Pay Range: $28.62 - $ 35.78/hr. | $59,534 - $74,418 annual compensation
Schedule
Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; Some evening/weekend work required.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises
Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
