Electrical Estimator

Responsibilities

  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for conduit, wire, cable tray, lighting, power, feeders, switchgear, transformers, grounding, ductbanks, and other electrical scopes.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor pricing, overhead, and profit.
  • Solicit, review, and compare vendor and supplier quotes for electrical materials and equipment.
  • Support bid proposal preparation, scope letters, change order pricing, and estimate revisions.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and site visits as needed.
  • Cook up coordination with project managers, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams to validate scope, pricing, and constructability.
  • Review project documents to identify risks, exclusions, clarifications, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Track pricing, labor units, and historical cost data to improve estimate accuracy and competitiveness.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of electrical estimating experience preferred.
  • Experience estimating commercial, industrial, utility, infrastructure, medium-voltage, high-voltage, or substation-related electrical projects is highly preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, bid packages, and single-line diagrams.
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing labor/material estimates.
  • Experience with estimating or takeoff tools such as Bluebeam, Accubid, Trimble, McCormick, ConEst, PlanSwift, AutoCAD, Excel, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems including power distribution, switchgear, transformers, feeders, conduit, grounding, lighting, and equipment installations.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, math skills, and ability to meet bid deadlines.
  • A stable work history preferred.

Compensation

$100,000–$135,000 annually, depending on experience.
