Responsibilities
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, single-line diagrams, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for conduit, wire, cable tray, lighting, power, feeders, switchgear, transformers, grounding, ductbanks, and other electrical scopes.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor pricing, overhead, and profit.
- Solicit, review, and compare vendor and supplier quotes for electrical materials and equipment.
- Support bid proposal preparation, scope letters, change order pricing, and estimate revisions.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and site visits as needed.
- Cook up coordination with project managers, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams to validate scope, pricing, and constructability.
- Review project documents to identify risks, exclusions, clarifications, and value engineering opportunities.
- Track pricing, labor units, and historical cost data to improve estimate accuracy and competitiveness.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of electrical estimating experience preferred.
- Experience estimating commercial, industrial, utility, infrastructure, medium-voltage, high-voltage, or substation-related electrical projects is highly preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, bid packages, and single-line diagrams.
- Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing labor/material estimates.
- Experience with estimating or takeoff tools such as Bluebeam, Accubid, Trimble, McCormick, ConEst, PlanSwift, AutoCAD, Excel, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems including power distribution, switchgear, transformers, feeders, conduit, grounding, lighting, and equipment installations.
- Able to communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, math skills, and ability to meet bid deadlines.
- A stable work history preferred.
Compensation
$100,000–$135,000 annually, depending on experience.
