About the role
Evergreen Innovation Group, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking an Electrical Estimator with at least 5 years of experience on commercial construction projects. This role is required to be in person at our Surprise, AZ location and offers relocation assistance.
Estimators will work primarily on negotiated electrical commercial projects within our core markets: healthcare, higher education, advanced technology, life sciences, and commercial. They will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to impact the success of the company and deliver on our mission.
Responsibilities
- Handle the project from first estimate through project handoff.
- Look beyond provided information to ask the right questions and deliver a complete project cost evaluation.
- Act as a collaborative advocate for customers, empowering and informing them throughout the project.
- Provide innovative solutions to complex issues related to cost, lead-times, trade partners, and specified products or materials.
- Make reliable cost predictions and estimate across all scopes of work.
- Prepare detailed conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic and feasibility-level documentation.
- Develop variance summaries between estimates and value engineering studies as the design evolves.
- Assemble complete presentation-worthy estimate packages that clearly communicate project cost.
- Collaborate with the project team to establish staffing and project requirements.
- Understand unit costs and factors affecting construction cost.
- Prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade-specific clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages.
- Manage the bidding process: soliciting bids, communicating with bidders, evaluating subcontractor proposals, and using bid tally sheets.
- Make subcontractor award recommendations to the customer/owner and negotiate and finalize subcontracts.
- Participate in and often lead the preparation and presentation of cost and budget information to the customer/owner.
- Serve as a team member for requests for proposal (RFP) responses and formal project presentations.
- Engage and develop business with new and existing customers.
- Actively participate in Value Engineering sessions with the project and design teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Electrical Commercial Construction as an Estimator, preferably within DPR core markets (healthcare, higher education, advanced technology, life sciences, and commercial).
- Prior experience with prefabrication or modular construction highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree a plus, but not required.
- Field experience a plus, but not required.
- Experience with Design/Build and Design/Assist projects a plus.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (WinEst, Timberline, or similar), take-off software (Accubid Livecount or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), project management software (CMiC or similar), or scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Travel to and from the office as well as assigned job site(s).
