Electrical Estimator
Job Summary
The Residential Electrical Estimator will bid new jobs and complete new estimates in a timely manner. Estimators will also be responsible for file maintenance, upkeep, and organization.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Preparing and managing bids for single and multi-family residential projects (typically 100+ units).
- Knowledge and understanding of residential electric construction practices and install according to building codes.
- Taking-offs and estimation of equipment, labor and materials according to builder’s specifications and bidding tools.
- Experience in obtaining and evaluating material, direct labor, manufacture equipment pricing and subcontractor quotes.
- Writing proposals/bids.
- Managing multiple bids simultaneously and evaluating changes through the bid process.
- Evaluation of plans, looking for discrepancies and addressing them accordingly.
- Participate in contract negotiations with clients that involve scope of work and estimated quantities and values.
- Aid purchasing agent in procurement of equipment and all pricing is met per contracted costs.
- Sense of urgency with ability to meet guidelines and deadlines.
Specific Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in all phases of residential electricity.
- Knowledgeable with local NEC code requirements.
- Experience on single and multi-family residential projects.
- Five years in the Electrical trade preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
