Electrical Estimator

About the role

Location: Odenton, MD. A leading electrical contractor in the Mid-Atlantic region is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This position plays a critical role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for a wide range of commercial and light industrial construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to determine project scope and pricing.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Prepare bid alternates, value-engineering options, and pricing breakdowns.
• Solicit, review, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with project management and operations teams to ensure estimate accuracy and constructability.
• Participate in bid reviews and estimate presentations.
• Maintain organized estimating files, documentation, assumptions, and cost data.
• Prepare estimate summaries and bid packages for internal review and client submission.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction, preferably within electrical contracting.
• Experience estimating projects ranging from $50K to $100M+.
• Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, materials, and construction methods.
• Experience with estimating and digital takeoff software; ConEst experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with both design-build and plan/spec delivery methods.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $130,000 per year, dependent on experience.
