Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical estimates for commercial, industrial, mission-critical, healthcare, and infrastructure projects.
- Review blueprints, specifications, addendums, and related documents to determine scope and project requirements.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for lighting, power distribution, low-voltage systems, gear, conduit, wire, and equipment.
- Develop pricing for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
- Cook up bid strategies, clarify project details, analyze risks, and review proposals with the Director of Midwest Services.
- Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain and compare quotes.
- Prepare RFI questions, scope sheets, and bid-leveling documentation.
- Understand value-engineering opportunities and propose alternative materials or installation methods.
- Participate in handoff meetings with project managers and field teams to ensure clarity of scope and expectations.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of electrical estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, electrical systems, distribution equipment, cabling, lighting, fire alarm, BMS, and low-voltage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and project manuals.
- Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid, McCormick preferred).
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently from the Irvine office while collaborating with leadership in Sterling Heights.
- Experience preparing budgets, design-assist or design-build estimates (preferred).
