Brief Description
Electrical Estimator – Kingsport, TN
Strong working knowledge of Construction Projects (Chemical, Pulp & Paper, Heavy Industrial), construction methods, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills are required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Communicate with Estimating Manager / Superintendents to review a project execution strategy to identify Complexity Factors and Special Equipment needs
Experience in pre-construction and estimating on commercial/industrial construction projects preferred.
Possess the ability to estimate all aspects of an industrial construction project, assemble into one budget, and present to owners.
Must be able to view things from a construction business owner’s perspective and present accordingly.
Responsibilities
- Generate and manage estimates for new bids, pre-bidding process, and ongoing projects to facilitate budget control across all scopes, systems, and assemblies.
- Attend Pre-Bid Meetings
Perform a thorough review of the Project Specifications, Scope of Work and Drawings
Organize Bid Documents in a Professional manner
Maintain an Accurate Listing of Estimates and Due Dates
Formulate and clarify questions during Bid Process to eliminate as many assumptions as possible
Develop a List of Clarifications and Exclusions throughout the Estimating Process for inclusion in the Project Proposal
Obtain Competitive Pricing on Materials for the Estimate
Develop Estimate in a way that it can be reviewed with others for completeness
Develop Estimate and Takeoffs in a way that materials can be easily transferred into a purchase order at award
Develop relationships with Key Electrical Suppliers and promote a healthy Competitive Bid Environment within these Suppliers – focus on better pricing for estimates - After project award, support creation of a “Buy Out” project materials listing to procurement
Assist T E C Industrial’s on-site Supervisor in submitting RFI’s (Request for Information) and resolving design / installation conflicts. - Develop Project Change Request Estimates
Prepare estimate presentations, special studies, budget control reports and estimating documents for projects and client presentations. - Understand market labor, and commodity conditions and impacts on construction costs.
Requirements

- Experience in pre-construction and estimating on commercial construction projects preferred.
- Possess good organizational and management skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess the ability to estimate all aspects of a commercial construction project, assemble into one budget, and present to owners.
- Must be able to view things from a construction business owner’s perspective and present accordingly.
- Able to work in a culture focused on industrial safety and regulatory compliance.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and logic skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of precision on assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities prioritizes his or her responsibilities accordingly depending on volume of work.
- Must be highly proficient with interpreting plans and specifications.
Qualifications
- LEED AP / LEED AP BD+C Certification is a plus.

Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Estimating Manager, the Electrical Estimator provides cost estimate support for Industrial Electrical projects. The Electrical Estimator will generate and manage estimates for new bids, pre-bidding process, and ongoing projects to facilitate budget control across all scopes, systems, and assemblies. Estimates vary from conceptual to full guarantee maximum price estimates to lump sum bids. Ability to complete full quantity take-offs to support accurate estimates for all disciplines in a full range of projects.
