Electrical Estimator
Responsibilities
- Support estimators by performing detailed quantity take-offs for electrical and related civil scopes.
- Prepare, organize, and manage complete bid packages for substation and transmission and distribution projects.
- Cook up requests for information (RFI) during the bid period to clarify scope, drawings, and specifications.
- Aid in project cost control by developing and maintaining accurate cost estimates and budgets.
- Contribute to project scheduling efforts by providing input based on quantities, productivity, and resource needs.
- Develop and maintain strong subcontractor and vendor relationships to support competitive and reliable pricing.
- Support profit and loss (P&L) objectives by helping ensure estimates align with financial and margin targets.
- Maintain a high level of quality and accuracy in estimates, ensuring competitive bid analysis and thorough review.
- Use estimating software and Microsoft Excel to prepare, analyze, and present estimate data and bid summaries.
- Collaborate with internal project teams to ensure alignment between estimates, project execution plans, and change orders.
- Aid in the preparation and review of change order pricing and documentation when required.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience, preferably in the power or construction industry.
- Strong electrical experience with hands-on experience in electrical construction or related disciplines.
- Proven experience estimating substations and/or transmission and distribution projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis, quantity take-offs, and estimate preparation.
- Adequate understanding of construction bidding processes, including bid package preparation and bid analysis.
- Knowledge of cost control principles and basic scheduling concepts in a construction environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy under bidding deadlines.
- Effective communication skills to manage RFIs and coordinate with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Skills
- Experience estimating civil projects is an asset.
- Proficiency in Timberline or Sage 300 estimating software is preferred.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam or OnScreen take-off software is preferred.
- Post-secondary education in a business administration–related discipline such as management, accounting, or finance is an advantage.
- Experience working with EPC or general contracting services for utilities or energy producers is beneficial.
- Familiarity with construction change order processes and documentation is helpful.
Qualifications

Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85,000.00 - $125,000.00/yr. Will provide benefits info during interview stage.
Work Environment
This is a salaried, office-based position located in Phoenix, Arizona, with standard Monday–Friday workdays and start and end times to be determined. The role involves working in a professional power infrastructure contracting environment that delivers EPC and general contracting services for utilities, energy producers, governmental agencies, and private firms across regions west of the Mississippi, including Hawaii. The Electrical Estimator works closely with two Chief Estimators, who provide guidance and training in estimating practices as needed, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture focused on accuracy, competitiveness, and professional growth. The work primarily uses Microsoft Excel and specialized estimating and take-off software, and involves minimal travel.
