Electrical Engineering Technician
About the role
This role is ideal for a technically driven electrical professional who enjoys working directly on industrial processing and packaging equipment. As a key member of the Processing Shop, you will diagnose, repair, design, and support electrical systems for both new and existing machinery. You’ll collaborate with shop technicians, engineering, and sales teams while helping develop internal technical standards and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electro-mechanical equipment
- Perform electrical design work using AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN
- Build and test electrical panels and test boxes
- Support PLCs, drives, motors, and associated control systems
- Lead UL and CSA inspection coordination
- Develop and maintain technical procedures and training materials
- Create and maintain documentation libraries, including images and videos of customer equipment
- Maintain internal software and safety documentation repositories
- Provide in-shop training and mentorship to technicians
- Assist with machine wiring, assembly, and complex electrical builds
- Support work order review, parts coordination, and supply organization
- Collaborate with sales and internal teams on machine specifications and troubleshooting
- Travel to vendors or partner locations for training or exchange programs as needed
Requirements
We are looking for a hands-on electrical professional with strong troubleshooting skills, experience working with electro-mechanical systems, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shop environment. Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical equipment (processing or packaging preferred)
- Working knowledge of PLCs, drives, motors, and industrial electrical systems
- Familiarity with Rockwell, Omron, Lenze, Control Techniques, or similar platforms
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 lbs
Skills
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical equipment. Pay
The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This is a first-shift position with occasional overtime and opportunities for travel and continued training.
