IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering New Graduate in Rock Island, IL to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants, providing engineering solutions and advice that support positive client outcomes. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience with mentorship, training, and growth opportunities from day one.

About the Role

In this role, you'll assist with electrical systems design and implementation oversight for buildings while supporting project budgets and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals and client expectations. You will contribute to project planning, documentation, quality control, and ongoing learning as you support work across the team's healthcare and MEP markets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of electrical systems using engineering software and tools to produce detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Support consulting projects by assisting with project planning, scheduling, and execution to help meet deadlines, budgets, and client expectations
  • Interact with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build professional relationships
  • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutions
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to help ensure designs and solutions meet IMEG standards, industry standards, and client requirements
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work by identifying and helping mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

Skills

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools, including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; energy compliance software such as ComCheck; and familiar use of Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Basic knowledge in the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) License

Service mix is centered on industrial support work, especially bulk material handling, substations, automation/controls, structural support, and plant infrastructure. The team is especially strong in heavy industrial systems, facility upgrades, and infrastructure-driven work rather than traditional commercial building design. Pay

State of Illinois Pay Range: $36.50–$38.50 per hour. The range represents the base pay IMEG reasonably expects to pay for this position in Rock Island, IL. Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure/certifications. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
