Job Summary The Electrical Hardware Engineering Manager is responsible for the successful execution of hardware development for innovative, leading-edge medical diagnostics technologies involving diverse clients and applications. This role blends management and technical contribution skill sets into an exciting career opportunity. The ideal candidate will manage a small team of hardware engineers and technicians while providing technical knowledge and engineering design services to a variety of client projects. Responsibilities Lead and manage an electrical hardware development team of 5 to 8 peopleDevelop and utilize the talents of personnel to accomplish company goalsReview the job performance of the development team personnelEnsure promotion, transfers, terminations, and compensation changes are acted upon where warrantedEnsure effective communication with other functions and departments to obtain all cooperation and support required for the success of assigned programsProvide technical leadership over complex, major design & development projectsDesign, implement, and deliver high-quality, robust embedded electrical designs for the businessCreate, maintain, and review technical documents and reports including performance specifications, electrical designs, schematics and drawingsDrive electrical requirements with other members of the engineering team as appropriate and proactively work to integrate with system requirementsPlan, lead, or conduct experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of breadboards, prototypes, or products, and then translate experimental results into design criteriaSpecify the design of cables and cable harness assembliesUtilize electronic design tools such as schematic capture and PCB layout to design PCBAsEngage with service bureaus and suppliers on PCB layout, fabrication and assemblyEnsure component reliability based on technical evaluation of suppliers’ specifications and designsUtilize electrical engineering best practices including Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) and Design-for-Test (DFT) Work cooperatively across all engineering disciplines, such as software, systems, electrical, and mechanical, as well as non-engineering team members, such as Project Management, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Support, to deliver projects on time and on budgetPrepare project requests detailing proposed engineering work costs and product timetableBe responsible for application engineering support to customers, and assist in troubleshooting customer application problemsProvide technical presentation support and consultation to marketingRepresent the company in customer communications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline (a master’s degree is preferred) with at least 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, electronic design, and development Diversified knowledge of engineering theories, concepts, principles, practices, and processes, including in one or more areas of advanced technical expertiseCreativity and originality sufficient to contribute to new inventions, designs, or techniques that are of material significance in the solution of important problemsDemonstrated leadership and management skills are essential, 1-3+ years of experience preferredExpertise with schematic and PCB designs using mixed digital and analog circuits for electromechanical systems, including stepper and servo motorsProficiency with cable designs and programmable logic (FPGA and VDHL) preferredPrevious experience with design for medical devices preferredFamiliarity with the design of test equipment and fixtures preferred Skills And Abilities Must be self-motivated and be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment Needs to be creative/innovative, think on your feet, & work well under pressure and deadlinesStrong communication and teamwork skills, including written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, organizational, and conflict resolution skills Here Are Some Of The Great Benefits We Offer Most locations offer a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday offCompetitive compensation & 401(k) program to plan for your futureRobust medical, dental, vision, & disability coverage with qualified wellness discountsBasic Life Insurance and Additional Life & AD&D Insurances are availableFlexible Vacation & PTOPaid Parental LeaveGenerous Employee Referral ProgramVoluntary Benefits Available: Longer Term Care, Legal, Identify Theft, Pet Insurance, and moreVoluntary Tricare Supplement available for military retirees This job description does not list all the duties of the job.
