About the Role
General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) is seeking an Electrical Engineering (EE) Manager to join the Electrical Technologies Embedded Systems and Controls Design Team in Rancho Bernardo. The successful candidate will lead the engineering support and new development of Embedded Systems and Controls for a diverse range of high-technology projects, including high-power motor drives, power conditioning systems, high-energy laser systems, advanced aerospace and electro-optic sensors, space-based optical communications, and more.
Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and oversee the technical performance of an engineering unit through all phases of assigned projects from inception to completion.
- Collaborate with technical staff, program managers, and executive management to develop and implement technical, schedule, quality, business, and financial objectives.
- Work with GA-EMS Engineering staff on concept development, prototype design, integration, and testing of Embedded Systems and Controls for various product lines and technology areas.
- Establish design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, testing, and integration.
- Interact with internal teams, suppliers, vendors, and customers to resolve technical issues and share information.
- Generate electrical architecture solutions, perform engineering analyses, document findings, and communicate results to stakeholders.
- Formulate long-term plans and coordinate solutions development, including documentation, reporting, and technical presentations.
- Identify engineering issues and provide leadership in developing solutions, such as resource re-allocation or specification modifications.
- Participate in the development of new business opportunities and expansion of existing ones.
- Represent the company as a prime technical contact on contracts and projects, interacting with senior external personnel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in engineering or a related technical field.
- Eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience (equivalent experience may substitute for education).
- Active DoD Secret Clearance is required.
Required Experience
- Mixed-signal circuit design (analog/digital).
- Embedded systems development (processor, microcontroller, FPGA, and MPSoC).
- Analysis, design, and implementation of hardware systems, including digital, analog, and RF.
Desirable Experience
- Embedded Systems development for complex, high-performance system-of-systems.
- Embedded systems architecture and project development for Xilinx and/or Microsemi devices, including Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoCs and/or SmartFusion2 SoCs.
- Familiarity with DoD technical review process (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
Skills
- Experience with Xilinx Vivado Design Suite, Xilinx Vitis Unified Software Platform, Linux-based RTOS, National Instruments LabVIEW, VHDL, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, PADS, or Altium PCB Design Software.
- Extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, with the ability to organize, plan, and coordinate workloads to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to represent the organization as a prime technical contact.
- Customer-focused with the ability to formulate plans based on innovative new designs.
Pay
Salary range: $125,810 - $229,670
