About the role
Participation in troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, process improvement, new equipment installation, and documentation of electrical/mechanical infrastructure and process equipment.
Scope of Position
- Currently enrolled in an accredited program entering Junior or Senior year for BSEE or BSEET degree.
- Experience using volt/ammeters & oscilloscopes.
- Ability to use AutoCAD to update electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to use electrical test meters, PC’s and/or schematics to troubleshoot electrical equipment/infrastructure.
- Power Engineering coursework or knowledge.
- Proficient with MS Office applications.
- Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May–August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
- Be willing to work at the posted job location.
Essential Job Functions
- Ability to assist in troubleshooting infrastructure equipment, systems and processes when required to ensure uninterrupted customer electrical power.
- Works with Quality and Engineering to document repairs/changes made to equipment and/or electrical infrastructure.
- Identifies critical spare parts to have on hand to prevent extended downtime.
- Participates in required PPA’s and electrical/mechanical shutdowns.
- Ability to assist in troubleshooting to the component level.
- Work closely with union trades, subcontractors, and across all levels and organizations.
- Self-starter and motivated to complete the task at hand.
- Ability to multi-task.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to medium voltage electrical infrastructure systems.
- Adherence to plant safety requirements, OSHA, NFPA and NEC guidelines as applicable.
- Safety glasses, safety-toed shoes, hard hat, fire-retardant clothing, hearing protection and clean room attire required in applicable areas.

Pay
The range for this position is $1,635.00 – $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
