About the Role

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Designer in Dallas, TX to assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. Working closely with experienced engineers and consultants, this role helps deliver engineering solutions and advice that support positive client outcomes. This position also supports project planning, budgeting, scheduling, documentation, quality control, and multidisciplinary coordination to meet project goals and client expectations. The role contributes to projects in industrial, manufacturing, and MEP markets, advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned electrical engineering tasks of low to moderate complexity
  • Assist in the design and analysis of electrical systems, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Support the execution of consulting projects as part of a project team
  • Interact with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build professional relationships
  • Assist with project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives
  • Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Analyze engineering tasks and propose innovative solutions with support from senior engineers and consultants
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions
  • Participate in quality control processes to ensure designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work by identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • 1 year of experience minimum in the building design consulting industry required

Skills

  • Developing proficiency of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; energy compliance software such as ComCheck; and Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards, familiar use of reference material resources such as TechStreet and MadCAD, and proficiency in the use of BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Qualifications

  • Engineering in Training (EIT) license preferred
