About the role
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented Electrical (Embedded Hardware) Engineer with a strong foundation in PCB Electrical design principles. This role is expected to thrive in a collaborative and creative environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to bring innovative drone technologies to life in a start-up environment. The daily challenges will require creative problem-solving and engineering intuition.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and debug PCBs for drone and embedded systems applications, working closely with firmware designers.
- Manage and maintain PCB designs throughout the full production lifecycle, in close collaboration with internal production team.
- Incorporate feedback from end users, field teams, and manufacturing to continuously improve hardware performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with software, systems, and product teams to ensure seamless hardware/software integration across existing and new products.
- Specify and evaluate supplier components and subsystems.
- Generate and release Bill of Materials and respective documentation for configuration management and production.
- Support system integration efforts and customer-driven feature development.
- Expect to collaborate effectively across disciplines in a small-business environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus)
- 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware development (robotics, aerospace, UAVs, automotive, or similar)
- Experience designing and controlling FET-based driver circuits for power management between power sources and batteries
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
- Proven experience in the design, development, and testing of embedded hardware for high-reliability applications
- Demonstrate hands-on prototyping experience and familiarity with soldering, rework, and hardware prototyping
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to read schematics and engineering specifications, and perform respective calculations and analysis
- Understand thermal management, EMI, and component reliability
Bonus Qualifications
- Familiarity with regulatory standards for military vehicles, systems, and equipment. (MIL-STD, IEEE, etc.)
- U.S. National (Citizen, naturalized, etc.)
- Familiarity with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards is highly desirable
