Responsibilities
- Perform electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, cable routing, communications systems design, grounding design, equipment selection, and equipment specifications.
- Modify and review electrical drawings.
- Perform cable ampacity and trench design using software packages like CYMCAP, ETAP, or AmpCalc.
- Model electrical systems using software packages like ETAP or SKM for generation of electrical reports including short circuit analysis, reactive power and load flow analysis, and arc flash hazard analysis.
- Model grounding system design using software packages including CDEGs and WinIGS.
- Design electrical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
- Research and compile related data as required for each project.
- Coordinate with local authority having jurisdictions on permitting requirements.
- Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations in support of project execution.
- Act as a field engineer on construction sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program, and 4 years of electrical engineering experience.
- OR a bachelor's degree in electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 4 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- OR a master's degree in electrical engineering and 2 years of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- OR a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related Engineering Technology and 4 years of demonstrated experience performing detailed electrical engineering design for utility scale solar plants (> 5MW).
- Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including team building, collaboration, and organization.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrate strong critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Strong computer skills include Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D and 3D rendering programs, and other analysis programs.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification preferred, Professional Engineer (PE) license encouraged.
Pay
Compensation: $105,000.00-170,000.00 Yearly
