We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer/Scientist for our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in New York, NY. In this role, you will work as part of a team to assess a wide range of electrical and software related challenges faced by clients ranging from early-stage startups through to Fortune 100 companies.

Opportunity Details

You will work on a variety of electrical and software related challenges, combining knowledge of electrical engineering and a range of investigative analysis techniques with robust subject-specific scientific expertise to implement high-value solutions to complex technical problems. You will have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise across an extremely wide cross-section of industry, and will interact with a variety of client contacts ranging from managers, engineers, legal staff, and business leaders.

You will be expected to demonstrate continued professional growth, both in technical areas relevant to your expertise, and in business skills essential to providing effective consulting services.

Responsibilities

• Performing engineering analyses related to ongoing Exponent work including circuit analysis, design reviews, safety compliance investigations, code reviews, and reliability and failure analyses related to electrical/electronic systems and components as well as to computer systems and associated networks.

• Using deep expertise in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field to develop solutions to a wide array of challenging technical problems.

• Preparing technical proposals, pursuing business development, and supervising and managing laboratory testing.

• Presenting technical results and solutions to a diverse audience through verbal, written, and interactive communication.

• Preparing technical proposals, pursuing business developments, and expanding the range of software-related services Exponent provides to clients.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field

• Technical hands-on laboratory experience in the areas of electronics, power systems, semiconductor fabrication and characterization, optics, renewable energy or related fields

• An understanding of investigative analysis for troubleshooting technical issues and solving technical challenges

• Experience with at least one common programming language such as Python, C/C++, Java, MATLAB, or similar

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams

• Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry

• Interest in learning and working with a wide range of devices and systems that span a broad array of consumer and industrial applications, including both hardware and software elements of these systems
