Electrical Engineer / SCADA Controls Designer

Responsibilities

  • Provide complete electrical design for water and wastewater projects, including pumping systems and all aspects of treatment design
  • Create electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and P&IDs using CAD software (e.g., SkyCAD, AutoCAD) for water/wastewater projects
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA systems (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware)
  • Design PLC I/O, control strategies, networking equipment, and communication systems (fiber optic, radio telemetry)
  • Produce submittal packages, technical specifications, control narratives, and I/O point lists for municipal clients
  • Support field integration, troubleshooting, and startup activities to ensure proper operation
  • Troubleshoot existing process controls when requested for water and wastewater clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in instrumentation and control (I&C) design, preferably within water/wastewater
  • Proficiency with PLC/SCADA platforms (Ignition highly preferred), CAD software, and electrical design principles
  • Strong understanding of P&IDs, instrument datasheets, VFDs, and field devices
  • Ability to produce accurate, clean drawings with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with project managers and client representatives
  • Familiarity with municipal design standards and wastewater treatment processes

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
