On-siteInformation TechnologyFull-time

Elveo is what happens when two pioneers in direct-to-device (D2D) communications join forces. The company combines 20 years of expertise to close the coverage gap for more than 50 mobile network operators and major distribution partners operating in 60+ countries worldwide. Its technology powers “elevated intelligence,” a new approach that processes and adapts on orbit, delivering voice and data services straight to mobile users, IoT devices, and machines across enterprise, government, and humanitarian sectors. Elveo’s mission is to deliver powerful compute and connectivity directly to individuals and objects everywhere on Earth, transforming satellite communications into essential global infrastructure and democratizing connectivity for billions.

About the role

As an Electrical Engineer at Elveo, you will function in many roles to use and expand your knowledge of electronics and PCB design. You will own projects through the complete hardware development cycle, handling circuit design, schematic capture, and layout of complex PCB assemblies that may include high‑speed digital signals, high‑power DC‑DC converters, and analog circuitry. Collaboration with RF engineers on RF‑containing boards is required. The team emphasizes rapid iteration, and the ideal candidate thrives in an interdisciplinary environment, engages in system‑level design discussions, and takes ownership of subsystems as an individual contributor. Experience with satellites is not required; candidates from early‑career to seasoned engineers are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Design multilayer PCB assemblies, incorporating EMI/EMC best practices and accounting for harsh‑environment deployment (thermal cycles, mechanical shock, vibration, etc.).
  • Own the complete lifecycle of PCB multi‑layer design—from schematic capture and layout through board bring‑up and testing.
  • Develop and analyze complex power distribution trees.
  • Collaborate closely with RTL and software teams to define pinouts, bank voltages, and clocking architectures that optimize PCB routing.
  • Work with mechanical teams on PCB enclosure and thermal design.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Strong grasp of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) for low‑to‑medium volume, high‑complexity production.
  • Experience with multilayer PCB schematic capture, layout, board bring‑up, and testing.
  • Experience designing systems for harsh environments (space, aviation, automotive, etc.).
  • Familiarity with common low‑speed digital interfaces (I²C, CAN, UART, etc.).
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC best practices.
  • Basic experience writing FPGA RTL or microcontroller firmware.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of FPGA and SoC hardware requirements, including power distribution, high‑speed SERDES routing (PCIe, multi‑gigabit Ethernet, etc.), and memory interfaces.
  • Basic understanding of RF circuits and RF PCB layout.
  • Experience working in a startup or small‑team environment.
  • Experience designing spacecraft avionics systems.
  • Advanced experience writing FPGA RTL or microcontroller firmware.

ITAR Requirements

To comply with U.S. Government export control regulations (ITAR), applicants must be one of the following: (i) a U.S. citizen or national, (ii) a lawful permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) a refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) an asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158. Individuals who do not meet these criteria must be eligible to obtain the necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
