Electrical Engineer (Renewables)

About the role

We are seeking talented Electrical Engineers focused on renewable energy projects to join a national, employee-owned engineering consultancy. This role is part of an established and well-invested practice regionally focused on California, working on exciting renewable energy engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Detailed electrical system design for solar, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), and EV charging projects.
• Development of design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, equipment schematics, block diagrams, electrical system calculations, and one-line diagrams.
• Review of design documents and equipment submittals.
• Performing QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control).
• Conducting or overseeing power system studies (e.g., short circuit, thermal ampacity, load flow).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in practical engineering with familiarity with the National Electrical Code.
• In-depth expertise in complex systems, transient studies, and power analysis.
• Focus on utility-scale solar PV design, energy storage, microgrid, and power system studies.
• Proficiency in the following tools: AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, PSCAD, EMTP-RV, and AGI32; Python/MATLAB programming.
• Strong collaboration skills to engage across teams and disciplines.

Qualifications

• PE (Professional Engineer) license is a plus.
