Electrical Engineer, Power Electronics PCB Design

Valinor · Cookeville, TN · 1 wk ago
On-siteEngineeringFull-time

About the role

Valinor Dispatch builds modular charging infrastructure that keeps unmanned systems (drones, ground robots, surface vessels) powered and operating autonomously in the field. We're seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in power electronics and PCB design to own power flow for our AC/DC systems in low-voltage applications. This is a hands-on, on-site role for someone who can take a design from prototype and proof of concept through production-ready manufacturing, working directly with our engineering team to build rugged, high-reliability power systems for austere environments. You'll own the board-level design for DC/DC conversion, protection, and health monitoring, and set the standard for power electronics quality as the team scales.

Responsibilities

  • Own power flow for AC/DC systems and subsystems in low-voltage applications (
  • Design production-level PCBs for DC/DC converters, protection systems, and health monitoring built to survive austere environments
  • Take designs from prototype and proof of concept through to production-ready manufacturing
  • Design to EMI/EMC requirements for high-current, high-power systems (1kW to 50kW)
  • Partner with mechanical, embedded, and systems engineers to integrate power electronics into complete autonomous charging platforms
  • Build and validate prototypes, then drive the handoff to volume production

Requirements

  • 3+ years in power electronics or electrical engineering with hands-on, production-level PCB design
  • Proven track record designing DC/DC converters, protection systems, and health monitoring from schematic through manufacturing
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC requirements for high-current, high-power designs (1kW to 50kW)
  • Demonstrated ability to prototype, prove out a concept, and push it to production-ready manufacturing
  • Experience with low-voltage AC/DC systems
  • Experience designing for austere or rugged environments (thermal, shock and vibration, ingress protection) strongly preferred
  • Background in industrial, automotive, oil and gas, rail, or defense power systems preferred
  • Proficiency with PCB design and simulation tools such as Altium Designer, LTSpice, or similar a plus
  • Experience with wide-bandgap devices (SiC/GaN) and resonant topologies (LLC, dual active bridge) a plus
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; active clearance preferred but not required

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, equity packages, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance - fully covered for employees, 401(k), among others
  • Unlimited PTO and two-week company holiday at the end of every calendar year
  • Pro-mental health and pro-family culture – encouragement to spend time with themselves and their families
  • Fertility benefits for those beginning that journey
  • Fun work environment – we like to laugh and take care of each other while respecting the mission
