Electrical Engineer PE III

About the role

As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will oversee the creation of technical design solutions and studies, serving as the Engineer of Record (EOR) within an integrated project team. This role provides technical authority and direction for electrical engineering designs, studies, and solutions, while also leading the discipline in standards development, training, and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct electrical engineering projects in accordance with best practices, company standards, and the National Electrical Code.
• Assist the Project Manager in establishing project budgets, execution plans, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Execute electrical engineering aspects of projects within agreed-upon budget, schedule, and quality standards.
• Prepare engineering documents, including study reports, drawings, and specifications, which may require stamping and signing.
• Prepare addendums, proposal requests (PR), and supplemental instructions (SI) for projects.
• Mentor and provide technical direction to electrical engineers, designers, and BIM/CAD technicians.
• Attend client meetings and prepare meeting notes as needed.
• Coordinate communications regarding electrical engineering with project team members, clients, and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
• Collaborate with other technical disciplines within the integrated project team to develop design solutions.
• Assist in quality assurance reviews for all project disciplines.
• Conduct site visits for investigation, survey, and recording of existing conditions.
• Develop, maintain, and approve electrical engineering design standards, tools, processes, and procedures.
• Provide technical leadership and serve as the focal point for all electrical engineers and designers within the organization.
• Support mentoring and career development for electrical engineers and designers.
• Uphold and promote the company brand by ensuring excellence in work execution and a positive client experience.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by company leadership.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Ten years of experience post-PE license.
• Experience with the design of large commercial projects.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Ability to lead teams for complex electrical engineering design projects.
• Experience with the design of Healthcare projects.
• Experience with the design of Higher Education projects.
• Experience with the design of Central Energy Plant (CEP) electrical infrastructure projects.
• Experience in the design of medium voltage protection and power distribution systems.
• Experience in the design of paralleled generator systems at medium voltage and below.
• Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Clean driving record.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with industry trends and competitors.
• Excellent multitasking skills, including the ability to perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements

10-20% of time will be spent traveling to job sites and office locations.
