About the role
Ehvert Mission Critical, a business unit within Salas O’Brien, is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in New York. This is a remote role focused on supporting the design and coordination of complex electrical systems for hyperscale and AI data centers across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design activities on major projects in the United States.
- Design, model, and simulate electrical systems for hyperscale and AI data centers.
- Develop electrical systems, including power distribution, UPS, standby generators, and security systems.
- Create technical documentation for project execution, including design criteria and specifications.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to coordinate BIM models and resolve conflicts.
- Review shop drawings and ensure compliance with engineering codes and safety standards.
- Use BIM tools to virtually construct electrical systems and coordinate with other disciplines.
- Assist in coordinating projects, including on-site supervision.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress.
- Utilize laser scanning technology to document installation states.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience with data center projects or other large-scale industrial projects is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, including MV/LV power distribution, UPS, generators, redundancy strategies (N+1, 2N), and energy efficiency principles.
- Clear understanding of NEC, IEEE, and international electrical codes relevant to mission-critical facilities.
- Proficiency in BIM software (Autodesk Revit), CAD modeling tools, and other relevant engineering software.
- Experience performing power system studies (short circuit, protective-device coordination, arc-flash analysis) using SKM, Etap, or EasyPower Software.
- Experience performing underground ductbank ampacity/heat (NeherMcGrath) studies.
- Good understanding of electrical systems design, including power distribution, UPS systems, standby generators, and security systems.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
