Progressive Design, Inc. (PDI) is a private, family-owned, heavy industrial engineering and design consulting firm providing valued engineering services. Our team’s knowledge and hands-on experience supports projects from concept to startup, serving Fortune 500 companies in industries such as chemical, tobacco, power, films, fibers, plastics, paper, pharmaceuticals, metals, food and beverage, and discrete manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical power, controls, and instrumentation integration concepts through final project documentation, adhering to company and client standards.
  • Perform electrical design duties on assigned projects, including power distribution, machine control design, and instrument and control design.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop and execute safe, compliant, cost-effective solutions.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and create materials lists, obtaining quotations for design components.
  • Assist engineers and project managers in developing schedules, specifications, and design concepts.
  • Perform fieldwork and technical research, supporting constructability reviews with an understanding of field construction phases.
  • Maintain project design files, including supplemental vendor documentation and calculation sheets.
  • Certify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to allocate tasks within department resources.
  • Maintain budget and schedule tracking on multiple concurrent assigned design activities.

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited undergraduate program.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a heavy industrial field (10+ years for senior-level).
  • Virginia Professional Engineer license preferred but not required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD software and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Results-oriented, team player with an uncompromised commitment to quality.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, possess a valid driver’s license, and pass a drug test and background check.

Pay

Salary range for this position is $90,000–$150,000 (to include mid and senior levels) with eligibility for a discretionary bonus up to 10%.
