A Day in the Life
- Design medium- and high-voltage power distribution and management systems for renewable energy projects.
- Prepare specifications, calculations, drawings, and full construction packages for complex electrical systems and equipment.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews.
- Provide technical support to field personnel.
- Perform electrical studies including short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, power factor, relay coordination, capacity analysis, reliability analysis, and ampacity calculations.
- Troubleshoot electrical equipment issues.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Conduct due diligence, feasibility, conceptual design studies, and inverter-based resource (IBR) interconnection studies.
- Prepare utility master plan reports.
- Participate in project management tasks.
- Mentor engineering and design personnel.
- Occasional travel for client meetings, field reviews, and project assignments.
What We’re Looking For
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and/or PLS-CADD.
- Experience using power analysis software such as EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM Power Tools.
- Knowledge of CDGES software.
- Familiarity with voltage drop, fault current, and arc flash analysis tools (EDR, EasyPower, ETAP, SKM).
- Experience with GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) and Synergi.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure within six months.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in consulting with a focus on medium- and high-voltage power system design.
- Demonstrated experience preparing electrical construction drawings, specifications, submittal reviews, and providing construction administration for power projects.
- Preferred but not required: graduate degree, professional registrations, technical research, or publication experience.
