Electrical Engineer Manager

About the role

Lead the electrical engineering function for new product development and product improvements at a well-established global manufacturer of consumer products. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with experience in consumer appliances or small consumer products to play a visible role in developing innovative products that reach customers worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a small team of engineers and laboratory personnel.
• Review electrical designs, schematics, wiring systems, and control assemblies for performance, quality, and manufacturability.
• Work closely with Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Support prototyping, validation testing, troubleshooting, and engineering change activities.
• Coordinate electrical compliance activities and product certifications with third-party agencies, including UL, CSA, FCC, and other applicable standards.
• Oversee an on-site product testing laboratory and help ensure products meet safety and regulatory requirements.
• Build strong relationships with component suppliers and external testing organizations to support successful product launches.
• Drive continuous improvement in electrical design, product reliability, and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred.
• Experience developing consumer appliances, small appliances, or consumer electronic products.
• Prior leadership experience managing engineers or technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, control boards, power distribution, and electrical components.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and transitioning products into manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of product safety and regulatory standards such as UL, CSA, or FCC.
• Hands-on engineering mindset with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier organizations.
