About the Role
As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you will work under the direction of an assigned mentor to develop and implement project deliverables. You will focus on the design and engineering of power, lighting, grounding/bonding, and special systems (e.g., tel/data, security, fire alarm, raceway, cable tray) and other electrical control and building support systems into the built work environment. Project work may include all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
Responsibilities
- Perform power load, illumination, short circuit, and voltage drop calculations
- Prepare basis of design reports, code evaluations, single line diagrams, plans, schedules, installation details, and specifications
- Coordinate with manufacturers and construction trade partners
- Utilize computer aided drafting and engineering software
- Develop project documents (e.g., calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications) for clients in coordination with regulatory bodies and industry standards
- Assist with development of conceptual designs and coordinate with the design team under direction of the project team lead
- Coordinate with multiple disciplines and other internal and external team members (e.g., vendors, clients, and contractors)
Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
- Interest in the Food & Beverage or Life Sciences industry strongly preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop actionable insights
- Must be willing to communicate and collaborate with multiple disciplines and other internal and external stakeholders (vendors, clients and contractors)
- Eagerness to learn about the AEC industry and apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with power systems strongly preferred
- Working towards Fundamental of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit and 3D collaboration tools (Navisworks, BIM360 Suite, Assemble)
- Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards within the AEC industry
- Prior internship or co-op experience in Electrical Engineering or related field
