About the role

As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you will support electrical engineering project work across manufacturing sites by preparing specifications, developing design drawings, reviewing vendor packages, and assisting with construction, checkout, and startup activities. You will collaborate closely with electrical designers, engineers, vendors, and construction teams to help deliver safe, compliant, and reliable power distribution, instrumentation, and process-control solutions that enable production performance and site objectives. This role sits within the site engineering/project team and provides hands-on support through front-end design, construction execution, and commissioning phases.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Prepare project electrical specifications and summaries for front-end design packages
  • Develop project drawings with the electrical designer for electrical and control layouts, including schematics and installation details
  • Review electrical and control vendor drawings and ensure alignment with project requirements
  • Support construction activities and coordination with contractors and site teams
  • Contribute to electrical instrumentation development and estimates for new projects
  • Support engineers in developing electrical device specifications and component selection
  • Assist in the development of site power distribution and process control system design
  • Support project checkout and startup activities at manufacturing sites

Required qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • At least at Sophomore standing at time of internship (May 2027)
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred qualifications

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Previously completed a Co-Op with Bayer
  • Good problem-solving skills, a high degree of personal initiative, and excellent organization and planning abilities
  • General knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Ability to work well in diverse teams and cultures
  • No travel limitations
  • Agricultural background is a plus

Pay

Approximately between $26.00 to $31.50 per hour. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
