We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. About the role

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for all phases of engineering production and BIM for a variety of work ranging from programming through construction administration. This includes interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the design and production effort for one or more large or complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for facilities for Sandia National Lab, Government, and private clients.
  • Provide conceptual and detailed design for:
    • Facility power distribution (≤600V)
    • Site power distribution (≤15kV)
    • Emergency power generation
    • Grounding and lightning protection
    • Lighting design
    • Telecommunications (voice/data)
    • Fire alarm and mass notification
    • Security and access control
    • Special systems
  • Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
  • Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure accuracy, meet schedule and budget commitments, and maintain expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Write and edit specifications.
  • Work in a design team environment, including directing and mentoring junior engineers and designers, and delegating work as required.
  • Provide management of the local team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or architectural engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in facility electrical engineering design.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
  • Proficient in using REVIT/AutoCAD.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical regulatory codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE.
  • Experience using electrical calculation tools, including lighting software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, and power software such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Self-starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, self-disciplined, and confident in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects associated with this position.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Experience with Sandia National Lab or Department of Defense clients.
