What You'll Do
- Design and develop hardware and software for use in elevator control systems, including human-machine interface devices, power electronics (drives), and door operators.
- Test design and maintain test processes including hardware, software, and documentation for evaluating the performance of electrical hardware; perform calculations, estimations, and laboratory tests required to verify the soundness and suitability of a design.
- Aid in the creation of drawings for manufacturing of new parts and products.
- Lead investigations of field turnbacks and perform root cause failure analysis of electrical, electromechanical, and electronic parts and circuitry.
- Closely work with electronics repair shops to flow data regarding component failures to engineering, ensuring robust closed-loop feedback to the design process.
- Support service voice of the customer in new product development to suggest corrective actions to new products to ensure continuous improvement.
- Support supply chain by managing parts availability, quality, and sourcing sustainment for internal and contract manufacturers, driving dual sourcing and cost savings activities for electronics.
- Prepare specifications, design functional test equipment, and support internal/external initiatives.
- Develop replacement solutions for components or subsystems which may become obsolete or difficult to obtain.
- Thoroughly research legacy design functions, listen to the voice of the customer, and determine new design requirements that enable backwards compatibility, improved quality, and more valuable features for the customer.
- Create and update spare parts information and related documents in support of field operations and OSC Customer Service.
