About the role
The Department of Planning & Permitting (DPP), Building Division, Electrical Code Branch, seeks an independent Electrical Engineer to review moderately difficult electrical plans and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Review electrical plans, specifications, and calculations for compliance with safety and code requirements
- Work with architects, engineers, and the public to answer questions and ensure electrical designs meet code
- Work with electrical inspectors to ensure field installations match approved electrical plans and code requirements
Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty
- Two (2) years of non-registered professional (post-bachelor's degree) electrical engineering experience
- Desirable Electrical Engineering Experience: experience reviewing or designing electrical systems for buildings for building infrastructure, familiarity with electrical codes and plan review processes, and applicable skills needed
Qualifications
- At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment

- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply the National Electrical Code
- Skill in reviewing electrical plans and specifications for buildings and structures
- Strong ability to analyze electrical designs and verify technical computations for accuracy and safety
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, contractors, and the public
