Responsibilities
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance on plant electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, power distribution, furnaces, rolling mills, and auxiliary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical faults, minimizing downtime in a high-production environment.
- Oversee installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment, motors, drives, and controls.
- Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and NFPA/NEC codes.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams on capital projects, upgrades, and system improvements.
- Maintain accurate logs of inspections, testing, and repair work for compliance and reliability tracking.
- Recommend and implement reliability improvements to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in primary metals manufacturing (steel, aluminum, or related heavy industry).
- In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution and heavy manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of and strong troubleshooting skills with Siemens PLCs, VFDs, and motor control systems.
- Experience with power systems supporting furnaces, casting, and rolling operations.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making under pressure in fast-paced operations.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills for cross-department collaboration.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified electrical apprenticeship program.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience maintaining and troubleshooting large motors, drives, switchgear, and high-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with predictive and preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment (heat, dust, noise, heavy equipment).
- Valid driver’s license; ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to call-outs as needed.
