Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical engineering design and production support for new construction and renovation projects
• Develop complete construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and supporting calculations
• Apply knowledge of both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build project delivery methods
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
• Review electrical engineering work products for code compliance, constructability, and quality assurance
• Cookordination across disciplines to ensure integration of electrical systems with overall project design
• Estimate design effort and support negotiations with Architectural-Engineering (A/E) firms and General Contractors
• Review contractor submittals and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction
• Conduct field observations to verify existing conditions and support renovation and rehabilitation design efforts
• Ensure professional quality, technical accuracy, and coordination of all engineering deliverables under the contract
• Prepare and deliver briefings and technical documentation to senior leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of five years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, with demonstrated experience in Design and Contract Document preparation for new and existing buildings similar to the building types prevalent in the NAVFAC Washington Area of Responsibility
• Extensive knowledge of ICC codes, NFPA 70 (NEC), NESC, and DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
• Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary coordination required for Contract Document preparation
• Demonstrated working knowledge of current AutoCAD and other design and general office software, such as Microsoft Office products
• Demonstrated knowledge of specifications development and coordination, using Government Based specification software
• Experience in Construction Management/Scheduling and Cost Estimating
• Ability to prepare and provide high-level briefs to senior leadership
• Excellent Oral and written communication skills
