Electrical Engineer

Twin Rivers Paper Company, headquartered in Madawaska, Maine, is an integrated specialty paper manufacturer producing 400,000 tons of paper per year for the packaging, publishing, label, and technical sectors. About the role

This position will directly drive productivity by maximizing equipment reliability and optimizing automation systems, reduce equipment downtime, and ensure safety compliance. The Electrical Engineer will monitor and assess machinery for early indicators of electrical failure, ensure electrical safety and regulatory compliance, lead and manage maintenance and capital projects effectively, troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical-related issues. This role provides critical technical leadership, mentorship, and development support for electricians while strengthening the overall reliability and capability of the maintenance organization.

This position will also serve as a back-up for Process Control.

Responsibilities

• Develop or review electrical cost estimates and designs for Engineering projects ensuring applicable codes and requirements are met.
• Manage assigned capital and operational improvement projects to ensure they meet objectives.
• Support operational and maintenance needs through consultation and troubleshooting to ensure results.
• Improve electrical utility cost and reliability.
• Develop and maintain project/electrical system documentation.
• Develop electrical equipment layout, annual, and periodic maintenance schedules for process and production equipment.
• Support and develop electrical power distribution layout and required switchgear equipment for the facility.
• Manage the Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) program for new processes and equipment; maintain current LOTO program and procedures.
• Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications.
• Confirm system’s components and capabilities by designing testing methods and testing properties.
• Ensure thorough familiarity with and conduct tasks in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
• Develop and implement processes to improve productivity and reduce costs in the overall manufacturing process.
• Work with property insurance carrier(s) to ensure processes and suggestions are implemented and ongoing.
• Perform other duties as directed or assigned by management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment preferred.

Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills for complex electrical and process issues.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), MS Project, and AutoCAD.
• Strong PLC programming and industrial drives experience.
• Strong project management skills.

Work Environment

• Must be responsive and manage multiple priorities and schedules.
• Flexible in hours worked; occasional long hours expected.
• Acclimated to mill operations and shutdown environments as well as office settings.
• Overtime and working “off hours” may occur due to system installation and problem resolution.
• Stressful situations can occur during problem resolutions.
• Work primarily in the manufacturing environment on the operating floor, both during running and shutdown conditions.
• Must be able to bend, climb stairs, and access all areas of equipment, including elevated and confined spaces.

Pay

$78,750 - $114,750 based on experience.
