About the Role
We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Support professional to assist our Electrical Engineering staff in designing, installing, and maintaining electrical components, equipment, and systems to ensure high reliability and meet or exceed process requirements.
Responsibilities
- Designs, tests, installs, and maintains large-scale electronic equipment or machinery for manufacturing, power generation, or transmission.
- Uses computer-assisted engineering design software and equipment to perform assignments.
- Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals.
- Confers with vendors, contractors, maintenance personnel, and other engineers concerning the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems to ensure process capability.
- Consults with planning and design staff concerning equipment design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
- Evaluates vendor equipment according to specifications and quality standards, and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts.
- Researches and analyzes data such as equipment design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design for application.
- Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
- Plans and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of testing methods and procedures.
- Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure equipment and systems conform to engineering design and specifications.
- Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to optimize machine and equipment utilization.
- Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
- Evaluates installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
- Applies statistical methods to estimate equipment capability for future manufacturing requirements.
Requirements
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical systems to the component level.
- Ability to design or modify electrical controls and systems to improve reliability and productivity of manufacturing machinery.
- Competency in programming and troubleshooting controls, with emphasis on motion controllers (preferably Mitsubishi PLCs).
- Ability to perform calibration of electrical systems and components.
- Ability to read, interpret, troubleshoot, and modify complex PLC and Servo programs.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair PLC systems.
- Professional communication and collaboration with associates from all departments.
- Project management skills from concept to implementation.
- Ability to interface effectively with vendors and contractors to obtain parts, equipment, and services cost-effectively and timely.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Utilities experience.
- Instrumentation knowledge.
- CAD programming skills.
