Electrical Engineer

About the role

This posting is for one position, which will be filled at the level (Engineer or Senior Engineer) commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and skill level.

Responsibilities

• Root cause analysis and problem solving
• Equipment condition assessment (vibration, oil analysis, etc.)
• Equipment specification development and review
• Troubleshooting of electrical systems and programmable logic controllers
• Management of station breaker monitoring program
• Review and issuing Digging, Drilling or Cutting Permits
• Oversight and interaction with contractors and consultants
• Performing capital project review
• Performing generator and equipment inspections
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering (engineering technology degrees are not acceptable for this position)
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
• Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles
• Valid driver's license
• Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters
• Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices
• Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
• Strong personal computer skills
• In-depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs
• Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills (includes technical writing)
• Knowledge of plant electrical distribution equipment, generator equipment, relay and motor control systems, battery and uninterruptible power systems, SF6 breakers, and frequency converter
• Ability to analyze complex problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results)
• Able to interpret codes, regulations and practices
• Able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels
