About the role
RCM Energy Services is a leading multidisciplinary engineering and project delivery organization supporting the energy, utility, industrial, transportation, and mission-critical infrastructure markets throughout North America. We are seeking Electrical Engineers ranging from Electrical Engineer I through Principal Electrical Engineer to join our growing team at RCM Energy Services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform electrical engineering design from conceptual development through detailed design, construction support, testing, and commissioning.
- Prepare engineering calculations, studies, specifications, technical reports, and construction documents.
- Develop one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, plans, equipment layouts, and construction packages.
- Conduct power system studies including load flow, short circuit, grounding, arc flash, and protective device coordination analyses.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Support proposal preparation, technical presentations, and business development activities.
- Travel as required to support meetings, field investigations, construction activities, startup, and commissioning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a design engineering, consulting engineering, utility engineering, industrial engineering, or closely related technical role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Willingness to perform field walks, site investigations, and engineering evaluations at client facilities.
- Ability to travel periodically in support of project meetings, field investigations, construction support, testing, startup, and commissioning activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License strongly preferred.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is highly desirable for early-career candidates.
- Additional certifications such as PMP, PMI-related credentials, NFPA certifications, or other relevant industry certifications are considered a plus.
Preferred Software Experience
- Experience with one or more of the following software packages is desirable.
- Candidates are not expected to be proficient in every program listed below and many software packages are similar enough that cross-training can be provided.
- ETAP SKM Power Tools ASPEN OneLiner CYME PSCAD EasyPower GroundMAT PSS®E EMTP HelioScope or similar photovoltaic (PV) design and analysis software AutoCAD MicroStation Revit
