About the role
The Electrical Engineer will support the electrical design, technical documentation, prototype assembly, and testing of electronic equipment used in vacuum systems and industrial manufacturing environments. This role applies electrical engineering principles using computer-assisted engineering tools and design software to meet project objectives.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed electrical drawings and schematics to support safe and reliable equipment designs
- Design power distribution and equipment control systems
- Design and integrate network communications for equipment
- Incorporate RF power supplies into electrical designs
- Develop Bills of Material (BOMs) using the corporate ERP system
- Perform prototype assembly and testing of components and sub-modules
- Troubleshoot equipment issues during the build phase
- Inspect incoming products from new vendors
- Utilize company software tools, including basic project management applications
- Support estimating and proposal efforts
- Aid Assembly, Test, Purchasing, and Quality teams with production issues
- Perform quality checks on electrical assembly work
- Organize and manage project work, including directing designers as needed
- Apply knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and relevant international standards (IEC)
- Work with industrial control networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet); experience is a plus
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Strong CAD experience with electrical schematics and drawings
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and design practices
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, UL, CE)
Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD or other 2D drafting software
- Exposure to manufacturing, industrial equipment, or machinery environments
- Internship, co-op, or project experience supporting electrical system design
Skills
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and relevant international standards (IEC)
- Experience with industrial control networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet)
