Electrical Engineer
Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineer III plays a key role in the successful execution of projects from start to finish. This individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Electrical Engineer III is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed - both externally and internally. The successful candidate will also contribute to a dynamic team environment by being proactive, communicating clearly to all stakeholders, and modeling a highly collaborative working environment. This person will also actively support the business development process, through the writing of proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers. This Electrical Engineer III will be self-directed but thrive in an environment where consultation leads to superior differentiators.
- Assists with the design of one or more of the following: power distribution systems (primary requirement), size motor feeders, and motor starters/drives.
- Supports the design of building general power, HVAC, and lighting systems.
- Includes the design of special systems, such as grounding electrode systems, emergency backup generator, UPS, etc.
- Evaluate existing power distribution systems and create designs to add in additional distribution for plant expansions/additions.
- Performs voltage drop and short-circuit calculations.
- Performs arc fault analysis through the use of SKM or similar calculation tool.
- Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and ensure application of electrical engineering principles.
- Collaborates with other departments and project team members as well as contractors.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without the need for work sponsorship now or in the future.
- Minimum of 8 years' electrical engineering experience following graduation.
- Professional Engineering (PE) certification or willingness to pursue this designation.
- Project experience and a working knowledge of Electrical design for building projects.
- Knowledge in both Revit and AutoCAD.
- Strong electrical design expertise across various industries and processes.
- Comprehensive understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices.
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE, etc.).
- Experience in infrastructure design for manufacturing facilities.
- Demonstrated leadership with the ability to influence stakeholders, build strong client relationships, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and effective meeting management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, and respond quickly to changing needs, direction, and project demands.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail.
- Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application, including MS Office.
Preferred
- Experience in industrial and heavy industrial market segments is preferred.
- Experience in infrastructure design for industrial facilities.
- Design experience with power systems primarily consisting of motor loads.
- Experience with electrical designs in hazardous areas, primarily explosive gas and dust type rated spaces.
