Electrical Engineer
Eichleay is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team in Billings, Montana, where you’ll contribute to meaningful engineering solutions across a variety of projects and industries. About the role
In this role, you’ll apply your foundational knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices to analyze data, solve technical challenges, and support high-quality design execution. Working under the guidance of a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll take on increasing responsibility while collaborating closely with electrical design teams on both single-discipline and multidisciplinary projects.
This position is based out of our Billings, MT office location. Occasional onsite field visits to work closely with our onsite team and clients will be required. Periodic work from home is acceptable with approval of your supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, safety, and environmental issues. Address issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees, clients, and contractors with zero environmental incidents.
- Consistently achieve goals, delivering quality and accurate work and meet project schedules.
- Assemble electrical engineering, drawing, and construction work packages for review and approval, including one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and other required electrical deliverables.
- Under the direction of a Senior Electrical Engineer, perform load calculations, voltage drop, conduit/cable sizing, lighting, and grounding design.
- Under the direction of a Senior Electrical Engineer, perform scope development and create technical specifications for electrical equipment and modifications.
- Prepare material requisitions for bid and technical bid evaluation, including reviewing specifications of equipment and responding to vendor submittals.
- Attend Eichleay project team meetings.
- Under the direction of a Senior Electrical Engineer, become familiar with site, global, and industry electrical standards and electrical safety, including NEC, IEEE, API, and NFPA 70E and 497.
Requirements
- 1 to 5 years of experience in refinery or other oil and gas-related industries.
- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
- Ability to coordinate with other disciplines and project management in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and working experience with AutoCAD/NavisWorks. RevitMEP experience is desired.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, API, and IEEE standards for hazardous locations.
- Proficiency in developing one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and performing load calculations, voltage drop, conduit/cable sizing, lighting, and grounding design.
- Experience with low and medium voltage systems is desirable.
- Experience in the development of electrical specifications and calculations.
- Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within Eichleay and with clients and partners.
- Occasional travel to Eichleay offices and client sites across the Western US.
- Working towards passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is expected.
- Experience working onsite at a refinery or similar industrial facility is preferred.

- HHFT Safety Training and current card or ability to obtain.
- Client Safety Training and current badge or ability to obtain.
- TWIC Certification and current card or ability to obtain.
- Background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record verification.
- Participation in random drug and alcohol programs.
- Authorization to work in the US without the need for sponsorship.
- Ability to be badged and maintain a badge as a safety-sensitive position and/or within the Building and Construction trade for process safety management governed facilities, requiring in-depth drug screening.
Pay
Anticipated annual salary: $73,000 to $103,000. The pay range listed is based on the anticipated base compensation at the time of posting and may vary based on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal peer equity.
Schedule
We offer flexible work schedules including every other Friday off and the ability to periodically work from a home office.
