About the role
As the Electrical Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead on Value Engineering projects and Supplier Transitions focused on cost savings. This on-site position reports to the Procurement Engineering Manager and is part of the Global Procurement Engineering Team located in Indianapolis.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering efforts for Value Engineering cost-reduction redesign projects, including developing prototype ideas, drafting and approving Design Change Plans, performing verification testing, and transferring new designs to production.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Development, Quality, Compliance, Service, and Operations teams to ensure design changes align with project timelines and resolve roadblocks.
- Act as the engineering lead for supplier transitions by drafting and approving Qualification Plans, working closely with new suppliers on Component Qualification Reports, and addressing technical questions about parts.
- Work with Supplier Quality and Procurement teams on supplier selection and qualification activities, including making print updates or corrections via Change Orders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 0–2+ years of experience.
- Technical expertise in electronic design of power supplies, motor drivers, digital logic, analog circuits, and/or microprocessor circuits.
- Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to focus efforts, overcome obstacles, and complete key objectives.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time, typically to supplier sites.
- Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with instrumentation (equipment) design and integration, including complex electro-mechanical systems, fluid handling, pneumatics, thermal systems, and/or optical systems.
- Demonstrated capability to troubleshoot and improve electrical and electromechanical systems using formal problem-solving methodologies, analytical, and statistical methods.
- Experience with design changes in a structured design control/change environment for medical devices.
- Proficiency in electronic circuit simulation/modeling software.
- Experience in product development and product engineering support roles.
