About the role
This Electrical Engineer role supports a large electric vehicle (EV) battery and energy storage manufacturing campus in Kokomo, Indiana, with a focus on infrastructure and facilities engineering.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously improve the electrical infrastructure that keeps the entire manufacturing plant running safely and reliably.
- Take ownership of power distribution and electrical infrastructure across multiple buildings on the campus.
- Analyze electrical load demands, perform capacity planning, and design redundancy and failover systems to support uninterrupted operations.
- Maintain, update, and accurately document single-line diagrams and electrical models for the facility.
- Support utility systems including water systems, cooling systems, compressed air systems, boiler systems, nitrogen systems, and other chemical systems as needed.
- Provide electrical engineering input on new designs for production lines, facility expansions, and utility upgrades.
- Consistently perform energy audits and lead cost-reduction initiatives related to electrical and facility systems.
- Collaborate directly with onsite journeymen electricians to implement maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting activities.
- Work effectively within Microsoft Excel to analyze data, track performance, and document engineering calculations.
- Contribute to the reliable operation of clean room environments and building automation systems to support high-volume battery and energy storage production.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of electrical facilities or infrastructure engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Strong experience in electrical engineering with experience in facility and infrastructure engineering.
- HVAC system experience, including chillers and cooling systems.
- Experience with cooling towers, closed-loop cooling systems, and dry room environments.
- Experience with compressed air systems and pneumatics.
- Experience with boiler systems and nitrogen systems.
- Familiarity with water systems and other plant utility systems.
- Experience with clean room environments in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for engineering analysis and documentation.
Essential Skills
- Electrical facilities experience in medical, semiconductor, or battery manufacturing environments.
- Experience working in large-scale manufacturing or gigafactory-style facilities.
- Exposure to energy storage systems and battery-related infrastructure.
- Ability to perform energy audits and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Strong collaboration skills for working with journeymen electricians and cross-functional facilities teams.
