Job Title: Electrical Engineer Job Description This role offers an experienced Electrical Engineer the opportunity to modernize and decarbonize building electrical systems within a campus environment. You will review Revit and AutoCAD drawings, transition facilities from fossil fuel systems to electric building systems, and oversee the performance, reliability, and code compliance of existing electrical infrastructure. The position focuses on system upgrades, energy data collection, sustainability initiatives, and the development of standards that support safe, efficient, and future-ready operations. Responsibilities Review Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM drawings to ensure accurate representation of electrical systems and compliance with applicable codes and standards.Work in a campus setting to support the transition from fossil fuel systems to electric building systems, emphasizing reliability, safety, and modernization.Oversee the performance and reliability of building electrical systems, ensuring safe, code‑compliant operations in accordance with NEC, NFPA, and other relevant standards.Collaborate with facilities and maintenance teams on electrical system upgrades, troubleshooting activities, and preventive maintenance processes.Maintain and manage existing power monitoring systems and power metering, and plan utility meter upgrades to improve the quality and granularity of energy data collection.Contribute to existing building commissioning activities with a strong focus on electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarms, and renewable energy systems.Develop and refine electrical and lighting design standards that support consistent, efficient, and sustainable design practices across facilities.Support Facilities Management training programs by sharing technical knowledge on electrical systems, standards, and best practices.Prepare project requests for proposals (RFPs) and detailed scoping documents for electrical and related building systems projects.Review consultant design submissions and construction RFIs, ensuring technical accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project requirements and codes.Review construction submittals, respond to contractor RFIs, and conduct project punch list surveys to verify quality, compliance, and completion of electrical work.Identify and evaluate energy conservation measures related to electrical infrastructure, including opportunities in lighting, controls, and power distribution.Assist in creating and managing digital twins of electrical systems to support planning, operations, and maintenance.Evaluate power distribution capacity and configuration to support equipment relocations, renovations, and long‑term master planning.Implement and support sustainability strategies such as lighting upgrades, decarbonization initiatives, renewable energy projects, and improvements to aging or inefficient electrical infrastructure.Build comprehensive reports using spreadsheet and database systems to analyze electrical and energy data and communicate findings to stakeholders.Produce accurate, timely, and detailed technical documentation, reports, and project deliverables. Essential Skills Degreed Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience.Facilities engineering experience strongly preferred.Experience in and ability to interpret AutoCAD and Revit drawings for electrical systems.Experience working with BIM for electrical design and coordination.Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles applied to building systems and campus environments.Knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes and the ability to review documents for compliance.Knowledge of power monitoring systems, power metering, and other power distribution components.Experience designing and/or reviewing designs for power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, lightning protection, and renewable energy systems.Experience reviewing construction submittals, responding to contractor RFIs, and conducting project punch list surveys.Ability to build comprehensive reports using spreadsheet and database systems.Ability to deliver complex technical materials accurately and on time.Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with facilities, maintenance, and project teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications EIT or PE certification preferred.Experience with facilities engineering in a campus or institutional environment.Familiarity with sustainability standards such as LEED, WELL, and similar frameworks.Experience contributing to decarbonization initiatives and renewable energy projects.Experience participating in or supporting existing building commissioning with an emphasis on electrical systems.Ability to support training programs by clearly explaining electrical concepts and standards to non‑technical stakeholders.Experience developing or applying electrical and lighting design standards.Strong analytical skills for evaluating energy conservation measures and electrical system performance. Work Environment This position is based in a campus setting within an academic public health environment, working directly with building and facilities teams. The role follows a hybrid work model, typically combining on‑site work with remote work on a case‑by‑case basis, with on‑site presence required when project or field work is being performed. You will work closely with facilities, maintenance, and project stakeholders and regularly interact with consultants and contractors. Daily work involves the use of design and analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms, spreadsheets, and database systems, as well as engagement with power monitoring and metering systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $72.12/hr.
