Electrical Engineer

About the role

This is a full-time, onsite role with our Bethlehem, PA team. You’ll work with cross-functional teams, own pieces of real projects, solve problems as they happen, and create power systems for equipment that mixes and formulates liquid medicines and therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical scope on active projects through all phases, working closely with project engineering, manufacturing, and field teams.
  • Support startup, troubleshooting, and customer needs to see your work in action.
  • Assume Electrical Engineering project lead to interface with customers and ensure satisfaction (travel as requested).
  • Understand all project requirements, specifications, and objectives; define Electrical and Instrumentation scope of work and develop required specifications.
  • Execute quality management plans in accordance with ABEC standard procedures.
  • Develop and coordinate design and/or manufacturing efforts to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in development of control panel layouts, electrical schematics, instrument and control loop drawings, assembly drawings, and bill of materials.
  • Maintain organized project-related records.
  • Develop hardware documentation, including details, setup parameters, and operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Provide training to end users and technical support to customers, sales, and marketing.
  • Evaluate and recommend electrical upgrades to existing equipment or systems.
  • Develop control hardware design specifications.
  • Support customer field service requirements, both planned and unplanned.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and customer quality testing as required.
  • Travel when required and play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Three years’ experience with electrical power systems, including 400/480 VAC supply and motor control circuits (preferred but not required).
  • Experience with electrical sizing requirements and load calculations (short circuit, heat load, total power consumption).
  • Good understanding of PLC hardware application and usage.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation.
  • Knowledgeable with NEC (NFPA 70) and UL508 standards.
  • Familiarity with European standards such as ATEX and IEC is preferred.
  • Awareness of and prior experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) is a plus.
  • Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus.

Desired Skills

  • AutoCAD and Inventor (a plus).
  • EPlan Software (a plus).
  • Familiarity with OEM work processes and business models.
  • Experience interfacing with multi-disciplined engineering groups.
  • Experience with design application, specifying, and selecting electrical components and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with instrument control loop drawings and I/O lists.
